How To Make The Best Brownies by BromaBakery

Quick and Easy Brownies by allrecipes

Seriously Fudgy Homemade Brownies by Sally’s Baking Recipes

The Broma recipe contained nearly all the elements of an online recipe that I would look for. Before even getting to the printable recipe you could use if you weren’t consulting the website while baking, there are detailed step by step instructions with pictures of how the ingredients should look before and after the step. At the beginning of the webpage there is a large picture of the final product and a short description of the cook time, prep time, final product characteristics, and a jump to recipe button. As for the recipe itself, it is neatly organized and even has a button that can switch between imperial and metric units of measurement without it reloading the page. There are thin black lines between the equipment, ingredients, and instructions sections making it easy to follow.

Although the Broma recipe was my favorite from a visual standpoint, there were a few aspects of the allrecipes recipe that were missing from the previous recipe. In addition to the prep time and cook time, this recipe also noted servings and yield. Also, in the reviews section, you could sort between most and least positive reviews which you could not do in the Broma recipe.

The Sally’s Baking recipe also contained most of the elements I would look for in a recipe with one small addition that I think would be beneficial for users. In the ingredients list, there are tick boxes next to each ingredient so you can check them off one by one before beginning. I would assume most people would do this in their head anyway but, personally, there is a sense of accomplishment when you can check off something in a list.

All these recipes followed a similar layout by shortening the width of the elements when you scroll down to the recipe. I particularly liked the Broma recipe layout the best because it was the shortest and most pleasant to look at. Depending on the intricacies of the dish, recipes should be short and concise while still containing all the required steps to complete it. I believe the five most important elements are an equipment section (which only Broma had), ingredients, instructions, large picture of the final product, and a reviews section.
